Watering

PM_Pink_Sonoma_path_cu
Pot mums require a plentiful amount of water and fertilizer. The root medium should be moist, or allowed to dry slightly before irrigation. Watering should be done thoroughly, with some leaching allowed to occur.

Various methods of irrigation are used on pot mums. Overhead irrigation, "spaghetti" tubes, ebb and flow, troughs and capillary mats are some of the systems used. The majority of pot mums are watered with spaghetti tubes.

The use of automated irrigation systems is recommended. Automated systems tend to 1) promote more uniform growth, and 2) reduce labor costs.
